Can I mix years of UCA's & LCA's?

Finally converting my '67 2WD to a disc/disc setup. I've owned the truck for @16 yrs now, so no time better than the present

I got the spindles, upper & lower control arms and steering linkage from a donor '79. When I unbolted the control arms from my 67, it became very apparent that the LCA from the 79 was not going to fit my truck because of header interference on the left side !

Im running a set of Headman #69092. Four speed tranny with the clutch linkage rod is why I have these headers. I really don't want to buy another set of headers since my cash went for the disc/disc conversion

OK......here's my thoughts.....Any reason I can't run the upper '79 control arms (new bushings) with the '67 lower control arms? OR should I just stick with the '67 upper & lowers all together?

Re: Can I mix years of UCA's & LCA's?

Here's a bump for you as I am interested in doing something similiar. I have heard that the upper and lower must be a matched set, but again this is just something I have heard and does not mean it is fact - someone on here will know for cetain.

Also, i'm sure this is covered somewhere, but what year disk set-ups can be a direct swap with no fab other than your header issue?

Re: Can I mix years of UCA's & LCA's?

Well, considering what I went thru to find a set of headers to fit (4 spd with clutch rod z-bar) I ended up saying the hell with it and decided to use my 67 UCA's & LCA's. Not going to reopen old wounds.....

I ordered new control arm shaft kits for both the upper & lower from RockAuto so I'll start putting it all together by the weekend!

The mix-match on the years will still work. If it helps your exhaust situation, that's good enough reason.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
