Old Truck Gets To Relax
Hello all.
I've been a member of this board for about 5 years now and just finally posted a week or so ago. I have always loved the look of the 67-72 truck, I can't explain why. I owned a 72 about 10 years ago and lost interest in it due to lots of rust in the cab and roof. Anyway, after the wifey got a new car we needed a way to haul larger items around, and since she has always wanted an older truck I suggested a c10. So, pictured below is "our" new project. It will start out with just cleaning up and repairing any broken items or odd fixes that POs have done to the truck. It appeared to be pretty solid with minor rust in the rockers. I was and still am worried about bondo art since the most recent owner repainted the truck back to its original color (I did magnet test before purchase, but who knows). And then eventually a mild drop with new wheels and tires and possibly a full restoration. I am a full on car/hot rod guy so I am trying my hardest not to rip this thing apart. I really want to be able to drive and enjoy it as much as possible. Anyway, its a 71 lwb (originally a SC truck with paperwork and manual in the GB) with a later model 305 and 700r4 (ugly crossmember mod that will be repaired). It is an AC cab and has everything; except for the compressor being removed so we may tackle that eventually. First on the list was to scrape the amazing amount of overspray off the windows. Next will be to cleanup under the hood and check the rest of the under side for safety issues and replace anything as needed. Then who knows, as long as I don't take the entire thing apart the first weekend I have suceeded. BTW, this board is an amazing resource for anyone with any interest in these trucks. So thanks in advance!!! On a side note, my wife and I were talking and we think its hilarious that this truck has been beat down for 40 years and now we have washed it and put it in the garage. It finally gets to take a break. Jeremy |

From the looks of the cab floor I would say you have a winner there... I agree on fixing the small stuff and driving it while you work on it. Good luck with it whatever you decide to do. Oh, and tell the wife she has good taste... LockDoc

Re: Old Truck Gets To Relax
looks solid from the pics. What's on the other side of the garage? look like a 20's hot rod.
