Accidental Sawhorses
All summer I have working at an elementary school, and one day the dumpster was full of old desks that they were throwing away. I asked the custodian if I could have them for the scrap metal and he said sure. So I stripped off the wood desk part and hauled them home. There's like 15 of them or so, and they have just been sitting out in the scrap pile. But then the other day I was dying for some sawhorses because I'd left mine at work and I thought of those desk frames and they work awesome!
That's my core support I've been sandblasting. I clamped it to those frames and it's totally stable. Here's how well it holds a grill off my '68: Check out a local school and see if they are going to chuck any old desks and try them out. They really work good

Re: Accidental Sawhorses
Great post Pritch! I'll bet there's plenty of school districts almost giving
this kind of stuff away...up to us to re-purpose. |
