trailing arm length

i have a lwb 68 that i plan to cut down to a swb. if i use factory swb trailing arms, can i leave the mounting crossmember where it is?

Trailing arms are same short or long--frame should shorten in front of crossmember---search this site for some threads--I know there here somewhere!!! lol jim

on the older trucks the crossmember on a swb is under the cab, on the lwb truck the crossmember is sitting even with the back of the cab. You better take a good look at a swb 68 before you tackle the cut down, it is not quite as straight forward as it seems. Kieth

ps If I was doing it, I would have one sitting next to me when I did the work so you could check the dimensions and locations of everything. Kieth

I do not believe it is a problem on the 68 but with our older trucks 66 the axle needs to be centered in the wheel well.(moved back 1.5"
