Re: Newbie with rear end question
It's a GM 14 bolt;
--If you want to go a little lower, try extended shackles; gives 1-2 inches approx....and maybe a couple more leafs (bottom) --If you want to go way low ....flip it --Also aftermarket lowered leaf kits...usually ride better...may lose load capacity --Relocated hangers |

Re: Newbie with rear end question
Thanks Rushnbobo...
Any suggestions on where to get a flip kit? And are they very hard to install? The leafs are 2.25" wide what shackles would fit this application. Also if I wanted to drop the front I assume it would be best to buy lowering coils vs cutting. I am not worried about hauling as this is just going to be a fun truck... Can I get away with the C10 coils as I have seen mentioned in the forum? So many questions..... I am stoked on this site it is gonna be a life saver... |

Here's just a few parts I found from CPP: 6372SHK-RE....1-2 inch drop shackles (also drop leaves avail; 2, 3, 4, 5, inch) FCS6102-3......3 inch drop front coils springs ( these are the ones I run on my dually) all coils are interchangeable....C/10 20 30....if load rating is not relevant. There is also 1 and 2 inch drop coils as well as drop spindles...for your application. Below is the link for CPP.....couldn't find a direct bolt in flip kit for 67-72 2wd leaf app. .....someone else may know, if not you can build your own if you have access to a welder....just need perches welded on opposite side of housing http://www.classicperform.com/6092chevtrk.htm#13 MANY other sites avail if you need more help Also when lowering the rear over 3-4 inches ...you must adjust the pinion angle with shims or it will vibrate like a mutha, as well as wear out u joints 2-3 degree "down" angle is ideal...don't want it at zero angle either...it will flat spot needle bearings in u joints Last edited by RUSHNBOBO; 10-02-2011 at 04:12 PM. |
