Carpet Strip Substitute
Not an original idea of mine but perhaps worth regurgitating. Carpet strips for Blazers and Burbs are hard to come by and are usually in poor condition when you find them. I bought a couple of polished stainless steel bed repair strips without holes for $20 each through LMC. Here are a couple of photos of one next to my rear carpet strip. The bed strip is about 1/16" wider. It appears my Blazer tailgate seal weather strip will work under the hump.

Re: Carpet Strip Substitute
Pretty cool! Do they come long enough to span across the whole floor?

Re: Carpet Strip Substitute
Always a good idea. By the way, what are the dimensions between the mounting point on the strip?

Re: Carpet Strip Substitute
The original rear strip is 63 3/4" long. The polished stainless bed strip is about 97" long so it is well over what is needed. The hole spacing on the original is as follows looking at it from the back of the Blazer and going left to right:
holes on each of the two ends are 1/2" on center from their respective outside ends. Starting at the center of the first screw hole on the left, the remaining holes are 7 1/8 " on center from the hole to the left. There are a total of 10 holes overall. The second last one ends up being 6 5/8 " on center from the outer right hole (go figure?). I do not have a factory front strip so will make spacing match the factory rear that I do have.

Thanks, rsavage. I never thought I'd have hold downs, but now this makes it possible!

Re: Carpet Strip Substitute
Here is a pic of mine installed
Also Here is a substitute for the front strip as well, You can buy a new one of these for about the same price an original that needs re-chromed or powdercoated. I would doubt that anyone but a well knowledged purist would even notice. I bought mine at a yard sale for $3, but it is for the front of a pickup bed. Here is a link to one, it runs about $50 http://www.buyautotruckaccessories.c...head-bed-caps/ Here it is installed

Re: Carpet Strip Substitute
bigbad- this is not mounted far enough back if you are wishing to install the tailgate seal. I think the polished ss strip would look good if someone used then for the vertical part of the tailgate seal since that is a hard to find blazer only part, and never came shiny.
