Tips for installing 1970 sport exterior side mirrors by yourself?

Hey guys,

Anyone have some tips on how to install side mirrors by yourself? These things are a pain in the a$$. I threw that damn backing plate twice!

Maybe a magnet? Like from a speaker to hold it in place. Dunno.

Put silicone on the back plate and install 2 screws and let it sit for awhile. Remove screws and now back plate won't move even if you ever want to replace again.

, this works awesome. I did the same thing. On my 72 i have to remove the mirrors in order for the cover to fit properly.
