This is a sweet old one.

Re: Super 10 on Seattle Craigslist

I'm curious about the paint..... Did GM paint the doors with the door latches in place? I've seen trucks in both stages of paint (not picking). I'm still gonna look after work!

Looks like a nice truck. Just slap on some narrow whitewalls and go!

Re: Super 10 on Seattle Craigslist

The listing is expired, but I managed to have a break through....he gave me a call. When I saw it in the garage, I knew I had no chance. This thing has 180,000 miles on it and the only things out of place or worn was a faded cab corner trim piece under the gas cap small "use" scratches here and there, seat cloth tears (no big deal), the original engine sitting in the bed on a wood stand properly, bedliner installed (which I doubt has seen much of anything) and "Jack in the box" ball head on the antenna. The doors opened and closed like show room, the glovebox had a sound when it closed that reminded me of a new Cadillac's door closing (I'm not kidding....amazing). Dash cluster clear and beautiful (wood of course for gages and glovebox)....it goes on and on!
There was even something I couldn't identify in the engine compartment, both side of the engine over the A arm on the frame rails. These were box shaped but I have no idea what there purpose is. I guess I'll have to go back and get pics (he said that would be fine)....lucky me! Listed at a little under 11k....it looks every bit of that to me! What is the range on this "Super"?
Oh ya pics sometime this week! Let me know if you have a particular angle you want to see.

Going off your description, I think what you are describing are the factory heat/air deflectors for the ram horn exhaust manifolds. Mel

Re: Super 10 on Seattle Craigslist

No, I dont think so. The shields were right where they're suppose to be...around the rams horn. These were mounted directly to the frame. I'll get pics sometime this week. Very nice truck! Someone must have a secret spot to look and see if its original or for discussion!

I'm betting Classic Bowties is correct. You are talking about two different heat deflectors. I will see if I can find the thread on them.

Here's one.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=208380

Here is another with pics of them mounted to the frame.

If they are like these they are air deflectors...

Re: Super 10 on Seattle Craigslist

LocDoc, you are spot on! The only thinking I can come up with is it funnels the cooling air through the compartment around the exhaust pipe. Great pics..
never seen this before. The Super's were bent outward away from the engine.
Maybe during the engine change.

Another question about the paint on the door latches....the owner told me this is the oringinal paint (ochre looks great in person).
