Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
What is your favorite year Chevy or GMC truck and why ?
Also what is your favorite modification you have made to your truck and why ? My favorite year is my 72 Chevy truck because its the only one I could find for sale in my price range within three adjoining states . My favorite mod is the buddybuckets sitting beside me as I type because they are so comfy and they were free. NEXT ? |

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
'67 is my favorite. We are building a '67 swb stepper with '71 running gear, suspension, power brakes and power steering. It will be powered by a 454 mated to a SM-465.

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
1929 followed closely by the 1967.... I love the looks and curves of the '29 but is currently out of my price range.... The '67 is the more squared off look that just has that cool look. So I am building a '67 and when I finish my doctorate and making the big bucks then I can get my '29 and build that.

67-68 have in IMO the best styling, and have just about zero plastic.

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
this is a hard one, as most years look good when done right..
55-57 as I love the look of the whole 57 chevy line up.. I have a 71 but the slanted hood of the 67-68 looks better and the late square body with stacked headlights 4by4 short box like on t.v. chips/tjhooker/etc and the 88 body with 454 guess you could say i like them all |

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
I've always been partial to 69~72 chevs. The big Chrome gmc gills are growing on me now too but a 67-68 isn't terrible either.... As far as box goes, swb if its getting dropped and lwb if its going up. If its staying stock, they all look good! My favorite mods are big wheels and bags on trucks going down and huge lifts with a lot of tube if they're going up.

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
69/70 for me. I fell in love with the looks of them a long time ago and never lost the affliction.
That's not to say I don't like the other years. The best Chevy cars & trucks were made from 1955-72. I rarely even look at anything outside that era.

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
Ill be honest, I am a fan of just about all years GM trucks with the exception of the 60-66 body style, especially the "knee knocker" years, and anything past the square bodies.
I think my favorites would be the late 30's and the 71-72 engineering with a 68,69 or 70 Chevrolet front clip! Favorite MOD.....anything RACY!

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
I have 2 67s, so I definitely like them. I got the first from my father-in-law's family after he passed on, then the next one from my body man. I also really like the 66s & 54s. The 54s have that rounded look that I like & I'm not sure why I like the 66s, but I just like the body lines. My favorite mod is replacing the I6 in my 3/4 ton with a V8 & putting headers & custom dual exhaust on it.

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
Anything from 1967-2011. I dnt think gm made a bad truck through those years. Except gmc not crazy about any gmc and between me and my father we've owned every body style with exception of 03-06 which next to 67-72s are my favorite body

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
69-70 Chevrolet. I like the grille the best. Had friends in high school with these. One had a green short stepper with 6 cyl/3 on the tree. Headers and glasspacks, it sounded.... well..... interesting. The other had a red LWB CST with 350/auto. No mufflers. It sounded good.

Re: Favorite year Chevy/GMC truck
I love the 47-54 GMC's. The first truck I ever built was a 50 GMC, that I bought out of an apple orchard for $100. Found a late 70's malibu wagon for parts and had a running truck for less than a thousand. Kept it for about 10 years, would love to have it back.

72. It's got the power steering, power disc brakes, and I like the looks the best. I consider it the ultimate expression of the best truck ever built.

My favorite years are 67-68 (chevy). I guess that's why I put a 67 front clip on my 69.
