Heater talk

There has been alot of heater talk as of late yet I have seen no mention of where to get the gaskets.. I know brothers and LMC have kits.. I am doing a 60 myself and wondering if its worth it to buy one of these or break out the cork/ceralbox/foam and do my own? Deluxe.. Whats best to use etc.. Thanks in advance.

Re: Heater talk

I guess it depends on if you can make the gaskets cheaper than buying the kit?? I would think cork would be best.

Re: Heater talk

I've done both with equally effective results. When I had the deluxe heater I bought the gasket kit which was helpful because the big gasket for the under hood housing would require a lot of gasket material. Since I now have the economy heater I simply trimmed and spliced valve cover gaskets together for the two block off plates.

Re: Heater talk

I get the kits, but I have never been very good at making my own gaskets. They just never turn out too well for me.
