hydroboost/electric vac pump

the engine in my 68 only makes 12" of vac, this makes brakeing a pain.
I have been thinking about hydroboost but dont know how hard it would be to install, I can get a unit from a 85 deisel k5.

has this been done and how hard was it?

I know this has been gone over before but search is down

also looking at an electric pump this one is the same as the mp one

http://www.gastmfg.com/pdf/ambulance.pdf

http://www.mpbrakes.com/vacuumpump.htm

I could just pick up a switch or a valve and be done with it

I found out about the electric pump at www.chevelles.com

My roommates truck has hydroboost on it and let me tell you Im going to do everything in my power to put one on each of my vechices. It gves you a much better pedal feel and it stops a lot easier. Even in a BIG truck.

I know about hydroboost but the issue for me is that they don't have a kit for 67-72 trucks, the have a universal kit but im leary of that because of the odd way the booster hooks of to the pedal in out trucks, and because its a 4x4 a vac pump will give me assist in the event of a stall

I emailed hydroboost.com
and they sent this back

Hi Andrew, I have some good news for you! Though we have not listed it on our website yet, we have indeed produced a few systems for these types of trucks. We completely do away with the entire strange cantilever setup and mount the assist unit directly to the firewall
,

Hydroboost here I come (brake skid)

now I will also need a new power steering pump would it be worthwhile to go with an agr pump or could I just rebuilded the one I have?

Wow, I was reading through these threads and this looks like a great system to have. Sure wish I had that kind of cash though because I am needing to upgrade to power brakes. Their systems for some of their cars are real expensive. Does anyone know what the price might be on that one for our year of trucks?
