another vin location on 57 chevy 3100 pickup

Hey guys, I am trying to locate another vin # on my 57 chevy 3100 pickup. The plate on the door pillar is really smooth and almost non-readable and the engine and trans have been replaced already. Is the vin # stamped anywhere else on the truck, like the frame or firewall? thanks.

It should be on the top frame rail below the cab on the drivers side. Kinda hard to read if the cab is still on the truck.

If you find the VIN on the frame and cannot read it due to the cab sitting on it, take several pieces of clear tape to make one piece as wide as the top of the frame and about 8 or 9" long, lay it on the frame where you see the first number to the last number then rub on top of the clear tape to get a inprint of the numbers. Take the tape off and you should be able to see the VIN numbers on the tape. This is how the CHP does it here in So Cal.

or have CHP take the cab off for ya -- sigh............. well dats one other way of doin it lol.

There are two vin number locations on frame. One under cab on drivers side and one on drivers side in front of cab in plain view. If truck has been clipped then front number will be gone.
