Expansion foam for sound deadening...

A guy at my work said that one could take Great Stuff Expansion Foam and use it between the inner cab and the outer cab ceiling to help deaden cab sound. Has anyone ever hear of this or tried it?

I agree with Ray. Any time I've cut a rusted panel off that had expand a foam in it, the moisture was just held in and I'm sure accelerated the rusting process.

Re: Expansion foam for sound deadening...

I did EXACTLY like that in my 71 Camaro a decade ago. Even though the car was rarely outside over the years.. I had to replace the whole roof skin. It was DESTROYED with rust.

NOT CORRECT APPLICATION Great stuff by DOW is a great product but it should never be used in auto body work. They make other recipes for that.
do a search in the 67-72 truck section and you will find some posts on it.

Re: Expansion foam for sound deadening...

DO NOT USE Expansion Foam in between panels. You can very easily inject too much foam and turn a smooth panel in to a bag of marbles. Its an inexpensive product that can have very expensive results.
