Ford 8.8 explorer rear in a 71 C-10
Im wanting to put one in mine with 355s,posi and rear discs, looks like a great bang for the buck,as far as added expenses a set of wheel adapters for about $100 and Im unsure what goes on with the driveshaft,is it a bolt in with a conversion joint or does it need to go in for lengthen or shorting, anybody know,,thanks jim

I think there is an adapter to use a regular u-joint. Do some searching on a jeep forum, its a real popular swap for cherokees. Much stronger than the dana 35s that are in the jeeps and probably just as strong as a 12 bolt.
One thing, I think the F-150s also had them, and might have a better width for a full size truck. Don't know about having disc brakes available, width, gearing options, etc. but might also be worth checking into. |

I was looking into the F-150 rear also, from what I gathered its about 2 inchs wider which will work, bolt pattern is a match up into 97 when it went metric, but its rare to find them in disc/posi like the Explorer.
Lazerus I haven't looked at that avenue yet S-10,,I will thanks Jim

S10 has different widths available. I think the 4x4 were wider by a couple of inches. I believe the ZR2 were disc brake rears after 98. You might check the 47-59 forum, as many people use the complete S10 frame for swap and have more info available.
