Bought this on ebay last week--only bidder-2006 SSR shifter for my project-446 original miles on truck-complete with original 6ft cable--$10--yes $10--$26 total to my house--$275 at GM-- Just never know what someone will sell ...................jim

Great deal! That's what gets me about people using Ebay to set the value of an item. I hear,"They go for $xxx on Ebay",all the time and just laugh. It's an auction for crying out loud! The same thing that sells for $300 in one auction can be $30 in another. It all depends who's bidding. I bet you were waiting till the end to get sniped,then were surprised to see you got "the one that got away"

I read your comments and others on the sniping issue and here's what I know for fact--If u bid early-people do run u up with ghost bids (more on that later) not all the time--but it happens--I like to wait till the end (on my own-not with a program) and bid with less than 10 secs --my max bid --if I lose-fine-win-even better! By me bidding at end the seller won't risk ghost bidding because he will have to come up with excuse and rerun(Ebay catches on to that quick) In defense of ghost bidding(put aside morals for a moment) have U ever sold at a live auction?? Having sold 10 cars and trucks at auction--I have always had a ringman in my ear telling me THE REAL MONEY THEY HAVE ON THE CAR--which is usually 1000's less than the current bid--The floor bid takers are pulling phony bids to try and get someone to throw in a real bid-May not sound right but it happens every time--Sound familiar ?? ghost bidding!! I don't like it but it happens

Same here. Just wait until less than a minute to go and enter my max - win or lose.

What I said here had no relation to any prior threads. Like you said,you didn't snipe it anyway. I was just saying I know how you must have felt seeing it "appear" that you would actually get this part so cheap. I've had the same "too good to be true" thing happen to me on Ebay. I figured someone would come along in the last minutes/seconds and ruin my dream. Then,it didn't happen and I couldn't believe it got by so many people and I actually scored a killer deal.

Bought an HP B&W laser printer recently on fleabay for computer printouts at the office. Not new, but they are real workhorses, & good for literally hundreds of thousands of pages.

Opening bid as was posted by seller: $ 0.01 ----------- My bid was $ 25.50; my winning bid: $ 0.01 (nobody else bid after I did).

It cost me about $ 25 to get it shipped to me, but talk about a DEAL !!!!!! Seller had to be sick, because these were several hundred dollars when new, but he set the opening bid price.

I never snipe, & I bid whatever my max $$$ would be when I first see a posting. Sometimes you win & sometimes you don't.

See i have slightly differant methodology. Ill tell the wife that i have found a part on Ebay that i can get for cheap over buying new. She will say hey go ahead and I will tell her my "max bid". I will then go ahead and put in my "max bid.

THen if i get outbid, i will go find other auctions of "somewhat similar items" and show them to the wife and do my best to prove to her why i need to increase my max bid because its such a good deal over other auctions or new items!

She usually just rolls her eyes and gives me the "just buy it already"

I know when she gives me the "its your truck (or bike), do whatever you want, that the price has gone to high and i need to back off and cool my heels!!!!

If you bid early, more often then not you will get outbid on a popular item. If you're the only one in the game then you're fine bidding early (not a popular item). My experience is you're better off bidding in the last 10 seconds whether manually or with a snipe program.
Sometimes I can't be at my computer or have a 3g-4g signal on my phone. If you want the item bad enough you have to do what you have to do.....just my .02

I didn't realize there was shill bidding in live auctions......that sucks!
