47 - 55 GMC chevrolet first series onto 1997 yukon drivetrain
Wondering if anyone has attempted this - kind of looking for pics and inspiration or similiar builds, I have a 97 yukon which is same wheelbase as 97 reg cab short box and is within 2 inches wheelbase length of the 1955 first series pickup i have. Basically swap frame and whole drivetrain into the 55 is the plan.

Have you done a search on here for S-10 swaps? Its been done alot with great success on youre kind of truck. I would think the track width on a tahoe/yukon would be to wide for an AD truck.

Re: 47 - 55 GMC chevrolet first series onto 1997 yukon drivetrain
When I looked at putting my 50 body on my 1999 pickup (newer body style than your 97, but same basic size) the 1999 was significantly wider outside wheel face to face than the 50...

Re: 47 - 55 GMC chevrolet first series onto 1997 yukon drivetrain
I havn't heard of anyone doing the swap on a Yukon. I'm sure it's due to cost. S10's can be had for way less than a full size. What's the Yukons track width in the front? If you plan on lifting it, it won't matter. However, if you're going to have it low you will have to pick a rim with the right offset to tuck the wheel. Also, what about the frame rail width where the cab will sit (I'm asking this question for the 55-59 guy's). There was a guy on here that used a fullsize truck frame (88-98) under his 47-55. I couldn't find his build sorry.

Now that you mention it, maybe it was the FrAME that was way too wide on the 99 silverado.
I think it would have ended up with the rails under the running boards. The frame on the old trucks is really narrow compared to modern full size truck. |

Cool thanks for the link, haven't measured track width on front yet going to take a closer look tonight. It may or may not be lifted not too sure yet so yeah it might not matter to some degree, and yes it will be a 4 x 4 .
