05 Silverado radiator drain

How do you drain coolant from 05 Chevy Silverado with 5.3?

Re: 05 Silverado radiator drain

If it is like my 2001 gmc, there should be a hose on the drivers side of the radiator. There is a drain cock at the radiator that you unscrew. Just pull the hose out from the top mount and point it down to your container. Hope this helps.

Re: 05 Silverado radiator drain

Is there a drain cock anywhere on the rad?
My '03 Trailblazer doesn't have one, I have to pop off the lower hose.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Re: 05 Silverado radiator drain

some of em don't have a petcock. I just worked on an 05 6.0 today and it didn't have one. Pull the lower rad. hose. Actually I've worked on 1 last week as well that didn't have one. There is a spot in the radiator for one but never got machined and had the petcock put in.

Re: 05 Silverado radiator drain

There is no petcock on the radiator to drain it. I wanted to know if anybody has located the drain plug on the side of the block. Pulling the lower hose will drain it some but I was wanting the correct way to drain it. Thanks for the replies.
