Dash pad replacement
On a 69 C-10, we are planning weld-in a patch section to repair a PO's hack job stereo installation.
I have been looking for a good source for a new dash pad to install after we fix the metal part of the dash. I see one on the Raybucks site for about $50, but I don't know anything about their quality level. What have others on this site used in the past when doing a dash installation? I tried a search, but don't see any tech tips for the actual installation either. Ideally, I'd like to weld-up the dash, replace the pad and install a new windshield and windshield rubber all as one project. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Mike |

Re: Dash pad replacement
Here's one:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=327177 If you type the words remove dash pad into the Google search box at the top of this page, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com", then click on the "Google" button you will find some threads about it. Make sure the thread is on the 67-72 truck board... LockDoc

Re: Dash pad replacement
I believe there are 2 types of replacements available. One is a rigid plastic piece that sort of has the right look, but it is hard; it's usually called a dash pad cover. This one is much cheaper, and your $50 find is probably this one. The other is padded, and runs around $80 from most vendors I think. Check out the LMC catalog, they have both on page 99.
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=99 I'm not recommending a vendor here, though I did get mine from LMC and am very happy with it. But the LMC catalog is a very good reference to keep around for when you need to know what goes where, and what you need to attach it with. |
