thought i could just swap parts. now dudes telling me rotors are different.
so now i need new drop spindles??????

my daily driver is on a lift with a problem. now i have a problem. thanks for any info

can the 1 1/4 rotors i gave dude from 85 work if i get new calipers??

You need the correct rotors & calipers for the spindles (either light duty 1" or HD 1.25").

If you're swapping parts, why not swap EVERYTHING that was already assembled together?

well, what i did, was pulled motor, and 5-7 kit i just put on the 85.
kit was 2mths old and motor was good. i pulled other parts and then sent to scrapper.
pulled control arms.....got new pitman, idler,ball joints, tie rods, and bushings.
had bushings pressed into arms and ball joints pressed in, then dropped truck to a guy to do the rest.
just got mesg about the differnt size rotors. i didnt think to measure. thought the difference was early yrs to later yrs, not heavy duty to std.
so now trucks in shop, got 2 jobs to go to monday....
didnt keep calipers. didnt think.
so can he use the pads, and rotors.....that i pulled....that were couple mths new.
and just pick up calipers and be good?

Just go get calipers from the parts store for the thick rotors. They arent that terribly expensive. The same calipers were used for like 30 years. Any auto parts store around should have them sitting on the shelf.

Just read somewhere that the inner wheel bearings need to be changed when swapping from 1 in to 1 1/4 rotors?

Correct. The light duty 1" spindles utilize different rotors, bearings, & calipers vs the HD 1.25" stuff.

yep, forget this, im good. had bearings, rotors etc from my other truck.
