Can I swap a 63 cab and doors to my 66??
I have a 66 GMC with lots of ventilation. I was thinking about transplanting a new cab but really like the look of the early knee knocker cabs as well as their interiors. Can I swap my front end over from my 66 to work with the 63 cab?
Thanks guys |

Re: Can I swap a 63 cab and doors to my 66??
should be a direct bolt on.
you might have to retain your 63 heater , or drill some holes to make the 66 fit. double check the e-brake cable, I am pretty sure the cab to frame portion is the same 60-66, but 66 is definately different under the frame. if staying stock you will need to retain the 63 master cylinder, or you can probably drill a hole and use your 66, but they do bolt up a little different.

If your 63 doors are in great shape, then NO... it won't work at all... I'll take them off your hands to save you some room at your shop. Now, if they're rusty and hole-ridden, then yea, that setup will work for what you're planning!

Thanks guys! My doors are in awful condition that's why Im thinking about this swap. Also my 66 gmc dash is UGLY! I have a modern booster that hooks up to the original two holes with another 4 drilled. Can I stick with my booster and manual clutch linkage?

you will just have to drill an extra hole, the 66 has 2 holes across from each other, and the 63 has 1 in the same spot as a 66 and the other is about an inch down, no big deal if you are modifing anyway... clutch is the same.

The original brake master or booster mounting on the firewall is the same from '63 thru '66. The clutch linkage is also the same from '63-'66.
