Posi rebuild kit?
Anyone know where I might be able to find a rebuild kit for my posi carrier? The new frame I got had a posi rearend, but there was some water in it, so I am having the rear rebuilt. I wanted to get a kit to do the carrier. Any ideas?
Thanks jmanz69 |

I called them today, the price for the parts was:
Clutch kit - carbon Fiber: 71.39 Sring Pack - 400lbs: 48.37 Spider Gears - 121.00 Shims for side gears: 32.35 Not a bad price to rebuild a posi. That wil do everything if you only have a case to start with. Just thought I would let everyone know. |

For 289.00 on Ebay you can buy a new Eaton posi unit. Search "truck Posi"

I went through a local driveline shop.....it been a while, but the parts ran $145-150. That was stock replacement clutch pack(steel), 400lb spring kit, & the spring plates. crazyL

I stopped at the local ring and pinion shop tonight on my way home from work. Guy told me it would be cheaper to buy a new diff. I asked why, since a new one costs around $350. He said by the time you buy new spiders ($200 from him) and the rest of the parts it would be cheaper. I think I have decided not to let him work on it. I might have him pull everything out (seals and bearings) from the housing, but I know I can find someone to build it cheaper than that. Gotta shop around, that's all. He must not have wanted my business, although his shop did not look so full that one more job would be too much. Oh well

If you need spider gears, the guy probably told you "square"....by the time you tax the parts you have listed, you will be close to 3 bills......I would spend the extra $50 for a new unit Just my thoughts, good luck, crazyL

they guy at randys told me $121 for the spiders, and the guy at the local shop told me $200. If I get them from Randys there is no way I would pay $80 in tax. That's like 40%! I'll continue to shop around. I left messages at a couple other places nearby.
