I have before, I cut off all the brackets and welded on new leaf spring perches. Easy and streight forward.

Re: 67 chevelle rearend in a 56 chevy truck

I am doing one now on a 52 GMC. But I am using QA 1 coil-overs and the rear is out of a 76 Monty Carlo I think the control arm are longer than the Chevelle otherwise the same.
i made the upper cross member and am working on the lower hangers.I have the parts cut out and tacked together for a mock up. now i have to modify them to fit the curve of the frame. I will get some pics soon.

It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to do the springs. The coilovers give enough room for a gas tank behind the rear end.best of all the suspension side loads are transmitted farther forward on the frame maybe causing less flex.

hey can you make me one of those front crossmember bars that what im talking about ohh yeah thats sweet ,,,cause i found the rearend came out of a el camino and it has the arms till attached to it .. that gonna fit with out having to cut the frame is the perfect way to go ,,,and i like it cause it sits inside the frame rather then the bolt on 4 link kits

Re: 67 chevelle rearend in a 56 chevy truck

make either flat plates off the frame for srpings or probly easier to go with coil over shocks on a crossmember

The cross member that I made won't fit the chevelle because the arms are a bit shorter. One would have to be made to fit your application. all the parts have to be fitted pretty much one by one. so nothing binds.
