gaskets for tranfercase????
Does anyony know if a gasket / RTV is required on this transfer case? On the 8 pointed cover that is missing. it was leaking fluid and after taking it apart I found no seal/sealant.

We have used RTV on the plate and it works very well. You want to be careful not to have excess RTV get inside.

Were there shims under the cover too?? My T 221 leaked bad, and I eliminated the shims, and it still fit tight to the case, so I used RTV sparingly and no more leak.

RTV
You should have no problem with RTV but keep in mind many of the bolts in your trans case go through to oil and must be sealed. I have seen people change seals when the problem is the leaking bolts.
