'2000 Transfer case making noise?
Works in high range, but nothing in low? How difficult are they to rebuild? Or would I be better off finding one in a junkyard?

After selecting 4 low the truck does not pull at all. That,s when the grinding noise starts?

does the light for four low stop blinking like its engaged? it might be an encoder not shifting fully or its possible but not likely the gears stripped out

I think you may be right. I was messing aroud with the push buttons today. I lost 4 high & 4 low. I could hear the transmission turning but had nothing out the transfer case. Works fine in 2 wheel?

is the service four wheel drive light on? it might be an internal problem. should still move when shifted into four wheel high or low at least the rear axle should be locked in.
