It's pretty tough to get it back in without pulling the window. I had that happen to me once, and had to use a tiny blunt hook and run it down the channel while working the trim back in.

IT is easier just to pull the glass. Is the trim repop? What brand if so? If it is counterparts thow it in the trash and start over. The precision brand trim is hit and miss but beats the counterparts brand, GMC pauls offers the precision brand. I have had the best luck glass out, rubber installed, then install top piece of chrome, then lower/side pieces, install junction in lower middle, then install the upper corners. They can be tough to get started but with a little help and the tap of a screwdriver handle they will go. Reinstall the glass with help. The glass in the red/ white truck fought the entire way and had to be set three times before I was satisfied (my brother and I did this and all but one of the rest of my trucks). If you need better instructions or help pm me and I can walk you through this, patience is the key along with extra hands, lube and a good piece of string.

This is a timely post. I just picked up the January issue of Custom Classic Trucks magazine and the editors whole editorial on page 6 is about all the major problems he had installing a new windshield with a new gasket and the chrome trim in his 68 truck.

What kind of trim do you have in there? Is it repro or original? What year truck?
