Re: 65Custom Build Thread
nothing on my project but i pulled this from under my daily driver
Picked it up as I was entering the highway one day didn't know it was there I stopped and looked when it happened but never saw anything when i looked but I kept smelling plastic when I would get out of the truck obviously I should have crawled under and looked, but i have had the oil changed since it happened and no one ever said anything |

Kinda like walking around unaware that you have toilet paper stuck to your shoe.

I can tell a difference in mine after I removed it is so slight I had no idea it was there What really burns me is the idiot that left it loose in the back of his truck to fly out on to the highway I never saw it come off the truck as it happened as I was getting up to speed entering the highway had no time to avoid it |

Re: 65Custom Build Thread
Just thought I would post and update, been doing a mental work on mine lately.
I think that is harder than actually working on it I've been thinking about getting Porterbuilt A-arms and trailing arms to move wheels to get the right look I want, along with increasing with wheel base I think will help the ride and handling, since I'm going to be using a LS motor I think moving the motor back as far as possible will help with weight distribution these trucks are front heavy and getting it closer to the 50 50 weight distribution should help all around. I need to go take a rest now, all this mental work is really tiring! |

Not to slam any one business over another but the areas around the big blue supercenter general stores that are open 24 hours seem to be the worse. Tooling down the road I straddled one of those shopping bags that was ghosting across the road (empty and floating like a ghost Heheheheh) and when I looked in my rear view it was gone. But I knew where it was... Then the stink of burning plastic (which scares the hell out of any classic driver because it smells just like an electrical system melt down) ensued. After that it was a few hours of scraping, wire wheeling, and sanding that melted crap off my muffler. I hate them. Never had one wrap around my driveline before, but I wont straddle one on the road ever again if at all possible....

Re: 65Custom Build Thread
Amen to that unfortunately I had no choice some clown left it loose in the back of a truck and it flew out and came right in front of me as I entered the highway at full speed no place to go and no place to stop.
nothing in the rear view so I stopped and still didn't see anything I didn't think it would get wrapped around the drive line and I don't like being stopped on the side of the Highway, too many idiots on the road. I've seen too many troopers get hit so didn't want to take the chance and stay stopped for too long so it was a quick glance, lesson learned. |

Re: 65Custom Build Thread
I know what you mean about mental work. I don't know what I will do when the truck is done. I'll probably be thinking of what I can make better.

Re: 65Custom Build Thread
Well had to go to auto or give up my job... Just couldn't do that... I did fine the cash to do some interior this summer and it came out pretty good I think.. sure beats the high price of custom. And it looks pretty good.

Re: 65Custom Build Thread
Stopped to get gas today in the daily driver and this really nice 66 came into the station so I had to go over talk to guy for a few minutes while he pumped gas and told him about the site here and the many other guys around the area, he was interested and said he wanted to fix a few things on his ride. Not sure if he said he bought it from the original owner or not but the interior was in near mint condition.
He said he owns a horse farm in Waleska, Ga which is near Canton, Ga so hopefully we will see him on here soon in the mean time, I look a couple of pics as he was leaving. Sorry the pics are not great. btw his name is Bruce if you see him around town. a great guy. I also mentioned the yearly get together at Williams Brothers. It is great to see so many of these good old trucks still on the road today. Enjoy the pics |
