59-60 Impala Dash in 67-72 Chevy Truck?
I saw a e-mail showing a 59-60 impala dash in a 67-72 chevy truck on here somewhere. There was a post asking to see custom dashes, if anybody sees this post please send it to the top. I would like to find the guy's site, or get his e-mail address so I can ask a few questions. Thanks.......JB

I wonder how close the measurements are for the dash and the truck. Looks like they either short sided the drivers side or lenghtened the passenger side. I think I would of been more apt to split the difference from the middle if possible.

Well now I just went back to the behind pic and the hood ridge is pretty much in the center of the dash, but the one side still looks a tad longer to me. Maybe the gauges are playing an optical "contusion" on my eyes.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!
ProSt68Trk, Looks to me like they shortened the left side. There is less "flat" area on the drivers side and the centerline if the dash (between the "humps") is to the left of the centerline of the hood. Probably had to do it that way to retain the stock steering column location and didn't want to stretch the dash in the center. Nice job though!! ------------------ Toms River NJ (Transplanted Hoosier) 56 working Street Rod(under construction 71-2 coil chassis) Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Thanks a lot for the pictures Prost68trk. That is exactly what I am going to try to do. I measured the width of the 59-60 impala dash and it is within a 1/4" of the truck dash. The only serious modification looks like it will be the depth of the dash. Ouyr trucks measure something like 11" - 11 1/2" out from the windshield, well the impala measures almost 17 1/2" from the windshield. So about I need to trim at least 6 " from the back of the impala dash to do it. This will affect the factory speaker location, but thats a small price to pay for such a sweet dash. The only thing that I wish I could figure out, (maybe you guys can help me) is where to put the tach? I want to go with the white face gauges from autometer, but the gauges in the impala are all 2 1/16" except for the speedometer, and I need that. I don't want a big tach sitting up on the dash. If anybody has any suggestions, throw them at me. Again thanks for all you guys help..........JB

Bamm 24 - Where to put a tach, hmmmm thats a tough one. If it was me I'd probably just go ahead and stick the monster 5" Autometer on the dash, but that wouldn't be the cleanest way. I might be tempted to buy a small digital unit from Dakota Digital and place it in the dash somewhere inconspicuously but still visible from the drivers seat, ashtray maybe?

You could always put it in the center spot and guess how fast you're going.

Thanks DR, I also found a guy out here in Virginia who has no less than 5 of them and I scored a sweet clean one complete for $30.00. He is located in Cumberland, Va and has at least 150-200 '50-'69 cars. I love my 67, but that is one tricked out dash. I still would like to find someone who has done this so I could figure out what they did with relocating the heater controls. If anybody has any such info, get back at me with it. I appreciate it. Thanks.......JB

I like the way the gauge cluster is laid out - I pretty much like anything that is different than the everyday ho-hum stuff, but thats just me. I kicked (kicking) around the same concept but with a different make/year - again just to be different.

Once saw a early 50's 5-window Chevy pickup with a '76 Vega dash. Looked real cool.

Randy busted me!!! No I am just kidding. There are two of me in Amelia. Actually one is my twin brother Kerry (BowTiePartsGuy) I am using his computer right now. No Lie!!! I will post some pics of us with my truck once I figure out how. He had a stint where he ran a 67-72 chevy truck store here in Crewe, Va. Mostly repro stuff, goodmark, stuff like that. Some used stuff. He was a great source for parts (family has to be good for something) Once he got all his buy-ins with the companies (minimum initial orders) I could buy all my parts at cost. Sweet for a guy with a truck on a budget. And fellas I have to say this is the absoluite without a doubt best board I have been on. Everybody have a great weekend, hope it's a 3-dayer like mine. Later......JB,Jerry,Bamm24.

Re: 59-60 Impala Dash in 67-72 Chevy Truck?
Put me in line for a dash like that! I have been wanting a custom dash for my 72 C10 and that seems to fit the bill nicely! Did you say you know someone with some??
