Rear Wheel Bearings 68 C20 2WD
Hi,
I have completed rebuilding the drum brakes in my C20 1968 pickup and now want to remove and replace both rear wheel Bearings. Simple question, how do you remove them?? I can't figure it out... Thanks ahead for your help! Chris |

On my C10 I used a slide hammer with a 2 hook attachment, but my bearings weren't in the drum either.

If that's an eaton setup, which I am sure it is, just yank out that seal, that bearing should just slide out then the outer bearing is held in with a big clip that you'll need some needle nose pliers and gumption to get out.

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings 68 C20 2WD
ok... As you can see in the top right picture, there is a rubber seal.... I did not want to yank that off until i know that is the right thing to do.
Also, am I right to say that these bearings do not need to be packed/greased and the diff lubricant will work as the lubricant? Chris B |

This isn't really an answer to your question, just offering a suggestion. I have the same hub/drum arrangement on mine. I was totally unfamiliar with it so I got a Service Manual. I haven't replaced the bearings, but the Manual (and several archived posts in here) got me through removal, dissassembly, and reassembly of the hub/drum assembly. I'd copy the procedure but it's spread across four pages and I can't get decent pics with my camera. I think you'd find the Manual helpful for this and future tasks on your truck.
