1957 model with quad headlights?

Im just wondering if they had 57 titled trucks with the 58-59 front clip because ive seen tons of them on craigslist and at first I thought the people were just mistaken but after seeing so many listed like that its got me scratching my head.

Re: 1957 model with quad headlights?

Either they had a nose change or the seller assumes that they have a 57. I don't remember swapping the noses as being popular to make your truck look newer on those trucks back in the late 50's That was done on some rigs in the late 30's where a grill change could make the car or truck look like the new model for usually a small amount of cash.

Usually guys went and still go the other way on 57 model trucks and put the earlier hood and grill on them as the 57 hood and grill isn't as popular.

Re: 1957 model with quad headlights?

Back in the 50 and into the late 60's new car model years started in the fall, September if I recall. I remember it because we used to go down to the dealers and try and see thru the paper they put on the showroom windows before the big unveiling.

It could be that some States titled according the the year purchased, not the year of the vehicle. I worked with a guy who would buy at the start of the new car year and sell at the end of the next year, his theory was you got two years use out of a car you could advertise as only one year old when sold.

I have seen a few 58-59's with 55-57 noses, just takes a frame horn trim and relocating the hood bracket bolt holes.

I also see a lot of 49s that are newer than 49. Mostly before NSRA allowed newer cars in their events
