Is this cab good?
I hit a pole with this truck when I had brake failure. I've since gotten another truck. Pulled the first truck apart to scrap most and save the rest.
A member here needs a cab, so while removing the seat and carpet I noticed there's a split on the seam in the floor about 1/4", maybe 1/2" in one spot. Is this something to not be worried about that can be fairly easily fixed, or is this cab junk that's ready for the crapper...I mean scrapper? I don't want to pass it on to someone if it's useless now. Thanks. |

Re: Is this cab good?
As long as the welds are still together on the pinch weld on the outside I'd say it's fine. Looks to me from the pics that the seam sealer has dried up and came off.

Re: Is this cab good?
Im no safety expert but I expect that it would be fine, just give it a gentle tap back into place and maybe some safety welds

Re: Is this cab good?
Nope. You can definitely see a little daylight through there.
Doesn't seem like the end of the world to me. I can't see that it's much different than having to weld in a new floor patch panel. Re-weld the seam and some seam sealer. I just hate to pass it on to someone else and it's not gonna work for them. Thanks. |

Re: Is this cab good?
Can anyone who posted here tell me what seam sealer is and where to get it? I mean, I know what it is for, just want to know what the right stuff is to get.

Re: Is this cab good?
There are tons of different types of seem sealer but stick with the name brands such as 3m. In that location the cheaper 3m in the caulk tube will work fine. Just follow the instructions on the tube. If your passing this cab on to someone else then I would leave as is and let them know what they're getting instead of looking like you tried to hide some thing.

Re: Is this cab good?
Thanks Black Sheep. That's why DD1 was asking. I called him earlier to tell him what I found before he came driving all the way to my place only to possibly be disappointed, and posted these pics so we could get some responses, hpefully along the lines of "It'll be fine, don't worry about it" so we could both be confident that he's not gonna waste his time if he uses it.

Re: Is this cab good?
I see, didn't realize that question was posted by someone else. It it were mine I would either blast it first to reduce chance of rust or treat it with a rust inhibitor before seam sealing to keep it sold for a long time.
