Parking brake feels like it's sticking

I have an '84 short bed that sits around A LOT. I haven't driven it over a mile in 3 months. It feels like the parking brake is stuck. Any advice on how to free it up? I haven't ever had to mess with one.

Re: Parking brake feels like it's sticking

Mine comes up really slow after it sits with the parking brake on for a while. But after driving and putting it back on it is good to go. Interested in other responses.

Not sure if that means anything to an 84...

Re: Parking brake feels like it's sticking

Is the cable releasing? I've found, putting the truck in reverse, then slamming on the brakes, works for for most of my sticking problems.

If it's locked-up, unhook the rear cables from the main, and then try to free them up. sometimes the cable will be what's holding the shoes. if the cables appear to be good, then you have to work the drum, one at a time until free.

nerphin, you posted while I was typing. Yours sounds like a cable may be hanging.
Maine's yearly inspection, the e-brake HAD to work.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.
