Drop?

This is prob. a dumb question because im sure it has been asked a billion times on this site. Anyways im building my 69 C10 swb and i am looking at suspension, based on photos and research ive done im set on going with a 4/6drop. My question is will i need to notch the frame? I understand needing to relocate the shocks and adjustable trac bar. The frame is my concern so any insight id appreciate. Thanks

Re: Drop?

Typically anything over a 5" rear drop will need a c-notch. Some will say you can eek out a 6" drop w/o the notch, but to avoid a harsh bottom out on a bump or pothole- I'd spend the hundred bucks and 4-5 hours to put one in.
Also, once you lower it 6" you"ll want to go lower! Trust me on that.

Re: Drop?

Thanks, I guess that does make sense. It's pry best to "future-proof" the truck. Its better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Thanks again

Re: Drop?

Yeah it is best to notch it. I put a mild two inch notch on mine and it has plenty of room with my 6 in drop in the back.

Re: Drop?

I drove my truck since 08 with a 4/6 drop and did not have a cnotch and rarely ever bottomed out, now that i switch my suspension to air ride I did cnotch the frame. By my real life experience I feel that a cnotch IS NOT required for a 4/6 frop
