Original cigarette lighter question

Was there only one type of original cigarette lighter? (The one with the silver button)

Just wondering. I have all back knobs in my 69 (without the silver center) so I wondered if there was a base style lighter that went with that trim or if they were all the same.

Re: Original cigarette lighter question

I think all the lighters had the silver center button, regardless of the trim level or year [67-72]. I'm sure others will chime in. I believe there was a lighter delete option though. Joseph

That looks like the aforementioned lighter delete plug to me. That's what my '71 has.

Re: Original cigarette lighter question

Yes, you guy's are right. I just checked the gm heritage center and the cig lighter was part of a option package. The SPID on the ebay truck doesn't have a option package listed. Sorry about that, my bad.

Re: Original cigarette lighter question

I came across one in a 67 with a small chrome knob, no black around it. Might not have been original but it matched the radio knobs which I know were different in 67. Sold it I think, but I'll have to look in my stash.

Re: Original cigarette lighter question

I looked at it and it was made by Casco. Ebay sellers are calling that an NOS part for GM and just about every other mfr, but I really dont know.

Same as this one...

Re: Original cigarette lighter question

Maybe black vs shiny trim has to do with original trim level of the truck. ?? base - black
next higher trim levels - shiny
? (a guess)

That's true. Base trucks got plain black knobs, but the lighter was optional and as far as I know the lighter with the shiny center was the only one available.

Nope, no all black lighter knob. I have an all chrome one (that one has a narrow knob) and a chrome center one (with the fat knob). Sorry I couldn't help, but sounds like there wasn't an all black one.
