Another shift linkage question

Ok, I have a 72 that once was a column shift. I would guess it was a three speed. The truck has been converted to a automatic. The PO put a floor shifter in. I want to put the shifter on the column.

My question is, will the column that was a three speed work with an automatic. I have a lokar linkage kit but don't have the lever or the gear indicater. I know there are different levers for the column and I live close to Early Classic Enterprise so I do have access to the parts needed. I was just trying to avoid having to buy a new steering column.

Has anyone done this switch in the past?

Thanks

Re: Another shift linkage question

you will need an automatic column, the 3 speed won't work. look on the parts board there were a couple on there cheap.

Re: Another shift linkage question

Man, I was afraid of that! The column in the truck is so solid I hate to change it. As usual, change costs money.
Thanks for the reply and I really like you thread, you do good work.
