Windshield Wiper switch

I recently changed the windshield wiper switch on my 78 Blazer over from a two position switch to a intermittant switch. I have the harness to split the connections. When I hook it up though the wipers won't shut off. All of the other positions work as they are supposed to, but when it is in the off position it still comes like they were on they are on the slowest intermittant setting permanently.Anybody ever made this change and do I need to disconnect any of the wires,

I don't have a solution, but have a somewhat similar issue on my truck. Wiper switch that was on the salvage-yard column I scored (unknown wiper style), must have been different than the one that came on my truck (2 position only, no delay wiper), as my wipers do work as far as on-and-off, but will just stop wherever they are when I turn the switch off, no completing the currwent sweep or anything. So I'm guessing there must be differences in various switches over the years. Hoping someone chimes in with some specialized knowledge, might get a chance to learn something. . . .

Thats a worn or broken ground wiper in the motor itself. Pull the cover off and have a look. Theres a small contact that completes ground until the wipers "park" and over time they wear away or get broken. You can probably just clean it up and bend it in a bit and they'll work correctly again.

Did you also use the required delay module in your swap? If not, there's your problem. If you do have the module connected, then it's most likely gone south.

Didn't think to check the module, I have the correct one, but don't know if it is bad. Hope its not bad as that might be difficult to find.

The Corvette guys have repaired their early delay modules and posted details online. The 78-83 modules aren't potted like the later units. If it were mine I'd take a whack at it.

I think will just go back to the two position switch. It is just a circuit board inside the module so I don't have a clue how to try to fix. I found new modules on ebay and the cheapest is about 65.00 all the way up to 110.00 . A little to much just to have delay wipers.

Ignore the year range, that number is good for the newer ones as well. (Why in blazes with all the "technology" we have, can't they keep the parts catalogs accurate? gets worse each year).

Same module is also used in fullsize vans if you are junkyard hunting.
