carpet question

I got the heat insulation silver insulation and the sound deadner asphalt stuff which one goes on first? Any tips on instaling it??

This might be right or wrong but this is how I did mine.

1st thing you want to do is neutralize or seal any rust with products like Extend or Por-15.
2nd is to stick the asphalt sheet. I used rubberized, paintable undercoating.
3rd layer will be your Dyna-mat or foil insulation. You can stick it with a 3-M adhesive so it doesn't move around.
Your last layer before the carpeting will be your carpet padding. I would use the same 3-M adhesive to stick it.
I used adhesives on each individual layer because I hate to feel like the floor is moving under my feet.
I installed a new mat instead of carpeting so I used the old carpet padding under the mat. With all the layers it's nice and quiet now and the floor doesn't get the exhaust heat. I'm thinking of using the same insulation sytem on the cab wall behind the seat.

I did not have carpet or carpet pad so it should be ok to put the mat back on the heat shield right? Now all I have is the rubber mat on the steel floor.

Do I have to use adhesive if I got the precut formed for my cab? Also did you use spray adhesive?

Even precut mats will move around a bit if they aren't secured with something. I used spray adhesive that I had left over from doing my headliner to just create a bit of tackiness.
I got the preformed mat for my truck from Chevy Duty.
