alt conversion question

PO changed over to an internal regulator alternator but a wire coming from the alternator going into a junction block on the pass. side fender. There is also a wire running from the possitive side of the battery to this junction box, and there is a wire running from the negative side of the battery.

Can I do away with this block. Have the wire going to the junction block from the alternator now go directly to the battery. Delete the one from the pos side of battery to this junction block, and just groun the battery to the fender?
