Nice work and nice deer!

I managed to pull the drive shaft out, pull the transmission tail off, Reclaim my speedometer gear, bolt it all back up, install the new speedometer gear housing, and now Im hopeful I did it right and all my leaks will be gone!!!

Re: What did you get done 1/29/2012 edition

I put in another re-man power steering pump today. Got everything bled, and it worked fine. Then I went to back the nose of the truck out of the garage. I made it 5 feet and my fuel pump quit. Sometimes I think this truck is trying to kill me. Thank God I had a brand new one waiting. Hey, at least it happened 5 feet from my garage instead of 100 miles away, like what would usually happen.

Got the last bits of the motor installed and got her fired up after almost a year. Then started wiring up the electric fans and temp gauge.

got the hideous big rear step bumper off of my 82 stepside.
boy what a task it was! has to spend half an hour with an air chisel to get a couple off and the rest were seized on there but eventually came off with the impact....2 hours o remove the bumper.dammit.

and got my new 4-row big block radiator tanked and painted.like new!

Re: What did you get done 1/29/2012 edition

Performed a heater core - box swap on my 75 (top) by swapping in reworked one sourced from '78 (bottom). The 'swap' went through OK. It's amazing how much crud accumulates inside these things over decades! Now I have functioning heat and defrost. However, as soon as buttoned up heater system alternator went into a quasi charging mode ~ putting out barely 13Vdc vs. normal 13.8 to 14.3Vdc. Looks like another bridge rectifier went south!

I drove the burb to performance shop to have diff installed in front with new gears. Talked to him about doing my next exhaust for the headers that showed up today.

Re: What did you get done 1/29/2012 edition

Bolted in my aluminium bed floor, shot primer on the light bar and test fitted bar/lights on the bed.
Put new brakes in the rearaxle, and punched a hole in my forehead when a spring slipped off one of the hooks.
Finaly took off manifolds and drilled out 2 broken bolts, now I can start fitting my new exhaust.
Found a set of 18" rims that might end up under my truck if the seller can make up his mind about acualy selling (why do people advertice if they are not sure?)

Re: What did you get done 1/29/2012 edition

Lots of good projects going on. I swapped out my old leaky radiator and put in a nice 4 core, and swapped out my old leaky gas tank for a good one. No more coolant on the floor and no more stinky gas smelling garage.

I've never seen more generators fixed than in my time in Afghanistan. Definitely more common place where people rely on them for more than back up power! Stay safe.
