Re: C 4 vett suspension in AD trucks
Check out my build:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=435302 I have not found many instances of people actaully installing the kits. I have not done it myself yet either. There are a number of things that I dont like about my flat out parts, but on the other hand they are pretty nice pieces. Progressive makes you replace the whole rear frame to put on the C4 rear where Flat out you just weld on brackets, Never did figure out the big difference but went with flat out because of the way theirs works. |

Re: C 4 vett suspension in AD trucks
I am in the middle of doing the front flat out c4. The instructions leave a lot to be disired, a pain in the butt, but I think it will turn out pretty nice.

Re: C 4 vett suspension in AD trucks
i used flat outs system also - the instructions were not that bad . and yes it does turn out very nice . -am using coilovers instead of the leaf - i wonder if there is a way to lower the whole rear end w/o c notching the frame ?
i just dont know if there is - anyone know ? |

48 GMC BURB, we are going to need a build thread when you start. I can not wait to see it with the vette underpinnings.

Re: C 4 vett suspension in AD trucks
Daze, did you install the flat out rear kit.
That is the one that the instructions have a lot to be desired for on in my opinion. The front is easier since most of it is already welded together. After many calls and emails with Don, I finally got out the sledge hammer to make the brackets fit my corvette parts....It was the one that is the shock mount that attaches with the bolts for the dog bones and lower bolt where the stock shock would have gone. Too many angles, 3 holes, just was never fitting right so I make it fit.... |

duwem
Yes i installed the flat out kit .and yes it was a little bit of a pain but all things fit ;i had the exact same issue as you did - i just loose fit everyhing and jostled all the pieces in -eventually it all fit then after tighting it all up; it all fell into place . i am using coilovers and honestly it looks and feels real tight .i am v ery happy with the outcome . i am just wonderin; about lowering it w/o c notching the frame but i havent found the way to do that yet - still wrkin on puttin up some picts . do you have any picts of your install? my kit is installed on a 57 how bout yours? |

Re: C 4 vett suspension in AD trucks
I just got done putting a 90 C4 rear under my 49. I left the leaf spring in and haven't gotten around to putting on the sway bar. I don't think it needs it. It feels very planted, and doesnt roll at all. It fits very well except I had to use 3/4" spacers to get my 15" ralley wheels to clear the rear calipers. After researching for ever, It always seemed like the guys trying to sell me something said I needed coils, or i needed a bracket kit, or whatever. I went and purchased about $60 worth of steel plate and got out the cardboard, and started making templates to get things where I wanted them. I'll try to get some pictures of the process and finished product. If you have a sawzall and a small mig, you can fix anything. lol

I'm thinking the same thing. The rear looks stright forwad (with enough help from those that have gone before) What is your ride heigth with the leaf ?
Did you use the toqure arm ? Pix would help a lot. TKS KC Quote:
