Got a question for you guys running tall valve covers

I've been helping my friend rebuild the 383 in his 62 pickup. He has decided to run roller rockers which require tall valve covers. We were wondering what all has to be done to keep them from hitting the firewall. The motor mounts are already in the front two holes in the frame. Do you think we will have any problems since its already been moved forward?

Re: Got a question for you guys running tall valve covers

With the engine forward you may not have any interference, but roller rockers don't necessarily require tall valve covers.

Re: Got a question for you guys running tall valve covers

I'm running tall valve covers for rollers and the engine is in the original holes. It touches and chips paint when hitting the gas, but ok so far. I'm moving it forward soon because I'm changing the drive train anyway.

That's the same set we are gonna run. Did you have to do anything to the firewall or maounts to get them to fit?

Re: Got a question for you guys running tall valve covers

I see that you don't have power brakes but does it looks like there would be enough clearance for a brake booster?

I just got my valve covers today and I was also wondering if the little tabs that hang off the bottom of the valve cover are supposed to fit over the head because mine don't.

There's enough room for a brake booster.

Well Bud,

I have a Mustang II IFS Clip on my front of my truck.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=484620

Mustang II IFS Suspension (Manual Rack Steering) with 2" Billet Aluminum Wheel Spacers. Heidts MP-042 - Superirde Front Coil-Over Shocks for Mustang II Suspension
Coil-Over Spring Rate (lbs/in) 500 lbs./in. 2” drop Spindles and the wheelbase has been extended to 117"
The motor mounts are homemade. Due to the Mustang II IFS Clip the total ride height of the entire truck and the engine set up is customized and set to the Mustang II IFS Clip. I had some BumpSteer I had to take care of. Actually I have to raise it a half an inch or an inch more in the front to make it ride better. I can't lower the rear anymore because the geometry will be off of the front end. Man I need air ride system!
I had tall valve covers on my 283 before the IFS Clip and engine swap and I didn't have any troubles as I can remember. So from what you have set up it looks like you will be ok.

This is my setup:
555-50145 JEGS Performance Products 50145 - JEGS Valve Cover T-Bar Wing Nuts - Chrome Steel

350-4207K Edelbrock 4207K - JEGS/Edelbrock/ARP Elite Series Dress-up Kit - SB-Chevy Elite Series Dress-Up Kit

Sounds good.
Let's see a picture of your truck!
I wish the Elite Series valve covers came polished. I could send them to Advance Plating to have them chromed.

I honestly don't have a picture of it. I'll take one of it on Monday when I go back to work. I'm keeping it tucked back in the corner and work on it after hours.

Here are the valve covers and air cleaner. I coated them in a color called Mirror Yellow and then did the whole thing with clear powder. These should never need polished.Name: DSCN2914.jpg

Re: Got a question for you guys running tall valve covers

The grill is chrome. My buddy just bought this truck a few weeks before the motor blew. I'll have to ask him what the color is but I doubt he even knows.
