Inlinetube review
Hello all,
I recently embarked on replacing my entire brakeline system and have never done so before, so I opted for the prebent option. After lots of searching around, I decided to go with Inlinetube. I called for assistance, as their website was clear, but cluttered with lots of items for diff vehicles or options for your vehicle (diff years etc). The rep was very helpful, I think he was looking at the website, just knew where to look. I made a preliminary list from the site and he was listing off the same items I had, more or less confirming them. He did add a couple connecters that I didn't see listed on there. Placed order, all good. I was kept up to date via email the same and next day. Upon reviewing the order I saw they took off one of two rear brake lines. I emailed asking why, they said "you only need one for that truck". I went and looked, they were correct. I wrongly added 2 whent I just needed one. So far so good. I ordered on a Thursday, it shipped out on Friday, I received on tuesday, pretty quick. All looked good in the package. However, I started installing them, and I have NO idea why they did this other than to "help". The original lines on the truck were 3/8" but for some reason, they changed it to 7/16" lines and connectors. I started at the rear, the connections fit to my wheel cylinders, the TEE they had me order was fine, then the rubber brake line connecting the main line from the front of the truck was a problem. The main line had a 7/16" male end, but the rubber line had a 3/8" female end. SO I left to the parts store to get an adapter, then had to bend the line a bit to accommodate. No problem, was just perturbed a bit having to go to the store. Then I worked my way up the line. About mid truck, there's a connection due to the line running the length of the truck. However, the old line was 3/8" and the new was 7/16, so I couldn't use the current connector. Had to hit the store again. Before leaving, I decided to check the rest out, just in case. The front has a T on either side with 3 female ends. I have no idea why, but the driver's side was fine, all 3 were 7/16" originally and they didn't have me order them, but oddly the passenger side was 3/8" on 1, 7/16 on 2. So I needed another adapter to taper down. Got it all done, tightened up, bled 2x, brakes work great! All in all, the bends were nearly perfect except for accommodating for the 2 adapters from tapering down 7/16" to 3/8" and the one connector in the middle was all I had to go buy. I wish they'd added that in to the online order or on their website, but don't see them anywhere... I'd recommend them, not sure if other companies would have had these small items, but I guess its something we just deal with on these old trucks. Happy note: I got to drive in my yard and shift from 1st to 2nd gear and then actually BRAKE and stop the truck for the first time!!!! So, I'm celebrating with a steak, beer and the super bowl after working on the truck all day. Hope this helps. Sorry so long. |
