TH700R4 Cooler Lines
What all is involved with replacing the factory cooler lines on this transmission? Do you have to completely remove the cab to replace the lines or no? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
its not necessary to pull the cab off to replace the lines but it would make the process very easy. i suggest using flexible lines to save some fustration.

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
You may want to try "getdiscbrakes.com" they have some truck models listed, stainless or steel. I've dealt with them for parts for my Laguna and my son's Nova, good people. Good luck, Ron

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
Okay thanks, have done the lines on a 700r4 before, just wanting to know what to expect.

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
No difference, if you're handy with a tubing bender and a flaring tool you can make your own. Ron

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
Yeah I went to that website you posted and they didn't have any for my transmission. I know LMC has some but they want $75 with shipping, and to me that seems a little high for cooler lines. And for making my own I have never used a tubing bender and a flaring tool before(im only 17 and still learning), but i'm sure I could quickly learn. Thanks for the help.

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
Also would the cooler lines be the only thing to drain the transmission fluid completely in a week? I am assuming the lines a re the problem because when the truck would sit and idle fluid would drip off of the lines. But it's really hard to tell with the amount of space due to the location of the 700r4 lines and it being a 4 wheel drive with the exhaust pipe in there too.

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
If it's a static leak I'd look closer at the dipstick tube seal. Clean everything off with brake cleaner, eye protection required, then drive the truck. Inspect the cooler lines, and the surrounding area. if you don't see anything, let it sit, and check it again. Most static leaks are from the dip stick tube, pan gasket, possible vent tube from the top. Is the trans overfull? Ron

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
Lines don't usually leak at the center of a line unless it's been damaged. Over tightened at the fittings will split the line though. Find the leak and go from there.

I don't know for sure that its not damaged, it's has been sitting for some years and we have a kind of rocky driveway/yard so it is possible a lawnmower launched a rock into it. But is it possible for rust to get the center of the lines and eat through? Thanks for help.

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
Would this be the part to look at on the dipstick?

Re: TH700R4 Cooler Lines
How do you get to the dipstick tube seal to replace it?
