Coolant 20 degrees good enough?

My question is it is supposed to get down to 16 degrees tonight. Is my coolant good enough? And yes I have antifreeze and water mixture good for 20 degreese above zero.

Probably. Is it worth the risk? It wouldn't be to me.
I would either add more coolant, or set a trouble light with a low wattage (40W) bulb in it under the hood where it won't start a fire to produce a little heat.

I think you have answered you own question, temp down to 16* and antifreexe good to 20* If it does happen your craked block will tell you in the morning. In michigan we set ours for -30*to -34* 50/50 mix Yep I know it takes away from the cooling effect during the summer but think of the horror.

In reality, 4 degrees for a few hours overnight won't harm anything. More to the point, there could be colder nights ahead. Aside from protection against freezing, antifreeze also contains lubricants and anti-corrosion properties. Best to bring it up to a 50/50 mix with distilled water and you'll be protected. Oh btw it's good for summer also because it raises the boiling point vs plain water.

I am one of those that if you have it to a temp around 0 degrees or lower, then your good, but then again at 4 degrees below your mix, you should be good. What do you do, if the weather man lied and the temps go lower? Especially at 2 A.M.---you could start the truck and drive it around all night, HMMMM probably not the best of ideas, especially if you have a fan that pulls a lot of air across the radiator. That would only cool the radiator down further. My thought is to drain some out and put some more antifreeze in and then sleep comfortably in the house.
