Re: 1966 installing 5 speed

That looks to me like a NV3500 from a '88-'98 C10. I believe these are rated at 300ftlbs of torque, so technically they won't hold up behind a 350. However GM did put a few behind the '96-'99 Vortec 350's which produce 330 ftlbs of torque. It will depend a lot on how you drive. Also be aware that these transmissions have only electronic speedo outputs.

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed

OK thanks for all the input it was hooked to a 350 which the guy called a 355 i traded a 454 block and heads for the 350 and this tranny it was all bolted together and i took it a part and it has a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing i think i will pass on using it and just use my saginaw 3 speed till i get a 4 speed! I dont think it will hold up behind a 350 well, also i rebuilding a 283 for my truck but it will push almost 300hp i will just look for another 5 speed tranny down the line might sell this one lol if i can sell it! Yes i did notice the speedo was electroninc but i heard u can change them over just here say!

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed

That trans would be just fine behind a 283. I doubt it would be making 300ftlbs of torque.
