'73 c-10 fuel filling issues
I have a 73 truck and I am having fueling issues with the new gas station pumps, the gas always over flows when filling or shuts off the pump. Are there any tips or tricks to these trucks with a low filler? Can you relocate the filler to a better location?

Turn the nozzel upside down or sideways. Use the lowest pump speed possible. The fill hose has a bad bend for high flow fuel fill pumps.

Re: '73 c-10 fuel filling issues
My 77 is the same way. Thought after upgrading to an 84 bedside and hoses it might work how it supposed to. Same problem. Turning it upside down for me doesn't work but if I turn it a little to the left and pump at a really slow speed (barley trickle) it won't stop at all. I can go faster but then I'll be clicking all the time and look like an idiot to the people around me.

Same for me! I turn the hose sideways and go slow, luckly the tank is only 15 Gal. I hate the low filler and Calif. gas pumps.

Same problem here, too. There are two gas stations close to home that, for some unexplained reason, allow me to pump at a pretty good clip without spilling gas all over me and my truck, or constantly shut-off if I try to pump too fast. Otherwise, the sideways method works when push comes to shove.

What concerns me more is I am going to restore the body and paint and I do not want this happening on the new finish. Does anyone know if you can reposition the filler spout to accept the new gas pumps?
