Hub gaskets?

I took the driver side hub off my truck (Spicer, D44) and found both gaskets inside to be torn apart. Obviously I need replacements...where can I get them? I don't see them listed on any auto parts store website.

Can I use a bead of RTV instead?

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.

Re: Hub gaskets?

It's been years, but I have found gaskets for my Warn hubs at the local NAPA store. Might be one of those small items that are in stock but too minor to be listed on the website. If you can't find any, RTV should work OK.

Re: Hub gaskets?

There was some gaskets and shims on ebay week ago, you can cut your own out of gasket sheet. If you plan on sealer use Right Stuff , it's the best sealer out there.

Re: Hub gaskets?

Found some on ebay but I don't want to wait that long. Will sealer work in place of the metal gasket/shim?

Anyone? I'm sure it would be ok to replace the paper gasket...but the metal one?

Re: Hub gaskets?

I've taken apart a bunch of these old Spicers and its not uncommon to find the metel shim missing..but the fact that it is a shim and not a gasket it should be replaced with such. I'm not going to say you cant get by with out it, but if your trying to do the job right then order a set and put them in at a later date.
