I'll throw my recovered 1994 bench out. I like how it came out.

Ragged Jim. Your recovered 94, 60/40 bench came out great. Was it a kit or a custom job?

Why? It doesn't have integrated belts and isn't buckets. Just make sure that the mounting points are similarly reinforced as the factory points are and that you have a sound floor. It's a great choice.

Sorry, it's just an expression, when I said I'm "throwing it out" I meant showing my idea on the thread (as in throwing out an idea) I'm keeping the seat and I did reinforce the bolt hole locations. Also using the original seat belts, not the ones that came with the new seat.

Re: Late model seat swaps,Pleasse school me

I just bought a 91 Silverado front seat to put into my 68 C10. Is there any modifications that need to be made to make it fit?

Re: Late model seat swaps,Pleasse school me

There is a raised portion of the cab floor that spans from side to side of the cab that the factory seats bolt to. I've seen some people slide the late seats all the way forward in their tracks and then bolt the mounts to the floor just behind that raised section. This lowers the seat about an inch and provides a little more legroom under the steering wheel but limits the access to the space behind the seat. In my case, I had relocated the gas tank to under the bed and wanted to utilize that space behind the seat for storage, so I mounted my seats as far forward as sensible and even utilized some of the original mounting holes for the new seats. I also had to fabricate small pedestals for the rear mounts. However, I'm 5'-11" and 200 # and have found the space between the steering wheel and my thighs a bit tight. Since I am having my seats reupholstered this winter, before sending them out, I removed the mounts from the seats and sectioned 1 1/2" out of them. The sectioning process is a bit labor intensive, but if you take your time, I think the end result is worth it. I will definitely welcome the additional 1 1/2" of leg room under the steering wheel and as an added bonus, the seat backs will now be flush with the bottom of the back window. Probably a little OCD going here, but those backs sticking up above the back window sill have bugged me for years.

Re: Late model seat swaps,Pleasse school me

Lloyd, I looked and looked for a kit but never found one. A local shop did it for $500 and used this houndstooth http://www.yourautotrim.com/hobl5.html

The shop said he would have charged more if he had known how hard it was going to be! Actually, it's a true bench with built in arm rest, not a 60/40 but they are similar.

I think the factory heat molded the covers to the foam, so you have to steam the seats and slowly peel the old off so you don't mess up the foam.

Thanks for the compliment, now if I can get the rest of the truck to look that good I'll be happy! Rg
