63 Cab on Newer Frame
After I sealed the deal with my friend on buying his long bed 63 chevy truck project, I can't stop thinking about what I'm gonna do. It started off life as a 2wd and we started converting it to a 4x4. The spring and axles are underneath it and that's about as far as we got.
I have an 83 shortbed 4x4 that I'm going to use some parts from it. At first I was thinking about putting the axles and hydroboost on the long bed frame/cab, but then I got to thinking. How hard would it be to put the 63 sheet metal on the 83 frame and then shorten the bed? Shortening the bed would be the hardest part because I've never done body work of any kind before, but I've seen a lot of the posts here where people have made a long bed in to a shortbed. Has anyone ever put a 63 cab on a newer frame? Any tips or suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 63 Cab on Newer Frame
Yep, done that about 20 years ago....on a 2wd though. This probably would look better on a 4wd. I would recommend staying with your original frame though, for the reasons mentioned in the thread.

Re: 63 Cab on Newer Frame
Thanks for the link. From what I've read, that looks like more than I want to take on at the moment. So it looks like I'm keeping it a longbed and updating the running gear. Thanks!!!
