Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

I have been waiting to post some pictures of my plumbing work on the truck. I am always interested is how other guys run their lines so I thought i would share mine. I wanted to keep hidden as many of the lines as possible. I guess my fantasy is always going to a World of Wheels show with a vehicle up in the air with lights and mirrors under it.

I am pretty proud of this photo I got the idea from another member to run AN-3 lines for the brakes. Wow, they are so much easier to flair and the fittings are beautiful. I used all chrome Russell fittings........only negative side is the cost. I did want to run bulkhead fittings where ever I had a frame penetration. I just think they look cool. I also used 3/8 bulkhead push fittings for the airline. For the level pro I just drilled a hole in the frame and installed an o-ring cable grommet. And also shown is the Z06 14" brake rotor which I think is just cool as heck.

Here is the bulkhead fitting at the front of the frame for the fuel line.

Here are two bulkhead fittings on the passenger side of the transmission mount. One is a 3/8 air line coming from the right front air bag and the other is the front right brake line.

the bulkhead AN fittings and the bulkhead 3/8 air fittings were around $17 each. the secret is to get the indura finish on the AN's and not the chrome......they are alot cheaper and look just as good.

I had my work cut out for me on the brake lines. The master cylinder is in the front, then I have the two large brake boosters in the back (one for front brakes and one for rear brakes). I need to run two lines from the master cylinder back to service each boaster, then run the lines to the rear and front brakes its a lot of plumbing!! This is my first complete brake line system I have put in so I am getting a pretty good initiation.

Yes you do have your work cut out!! I have never seen that type of setup before with the double boosters, can you post a shot of the the rear setup ,i would imagine that the braking would be so precise that you could stop on a dime and spit out nine pennies!

Here they are in the construction phase. The booster at the bottom of the picture is for the rear brakes and the booster at the top is for the front brakes. My Wildwood master cylinder is mounted under the dash so as I mentioned earlier I have to run two brake lines to the boosters. The brake line at the very bottom goes back to the rear brakes. If you look at the top of the photo inside the frame rail you see 3 brake lines..........2 lines coming back to the boosters from the master cylinder and one line going back up to the front brakes.

If you look at the one brake line crossing over the round booster bracket tube you can see I am experimenting with using Russell Performance Wrap it to cover the brake lines to make them pretty.

I am working on vacuum lines and I will have a vacuum canister in the back to help supply the two boosters.

I like it!
Of course, I might be biased because at this very moment I'm eating a bag of Flamin" Hot crunchy Cheetos.
Thumbs up on the black wheels with that orange as well.

it will be a hard decision to skin them big @ss low profile tires off those wheels but I think you are right.

Next question............guess that means I have to have a black intake manifold and black headers????????? can you have black trim on the outside and shiny chrome polished stuff on your motor.

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

i don see why you could not have shiny parts on the motor but it sure would look killer if you flow the black powdercoated theme in the engine bay as well !!!! again just my opinion

Raul starting stuff again I see. What the heck lets throw a couple turbos and a boat propeller on it. Why not!!! Lol

Color is nice man and te black wheels would look killer. How about a black tinted clear over the shinny. Best of both worlds.

Looks awesome. What are the benefits of the dual boosters? I'm a big fan of black. Flat and gloss combination with a little chrome to highlight.

I do have a small block fuel injected twin turbo motor If you look over on my suburban build you will see a picture of it. I have it on ebay right now. I would love the twin turbo but I have gone backward so much on this project I have to stay with the 454.

The double booster setup was kind of a crazy idea. I wanted the firewall as clean as possible and I did not want to see the brake booster. I also did not want the reverse peddle with a frame mounted booster. A buddy of mine just finished building the old 1950 chevy 1 ton and had used these boosters so we decided to try them on my truck.............all this work just for a clean firewall

Motor and transmission painted. I guess we will be pulling off the intake and having it powder coated black.
