thinking about looking at this truck.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/2881207042.html
im thinking about going to look at this truck on CL, the only thing is that he says it has a "camaro ss pakage" whatever that is, hahaha he says that means it is a camper special with a 396 and trailing arm rear suspention. werent big block 3/4 ton trucks leaf spring with 14 bolts?? and wasnt rear trailing arm suspention only a 1/2 ton option? i dont know much about 3/4 ton trucks so any info will help, thanks

Re: thinking about looking at this truck.
I had a Camaro SS package in a truck one time. Then I took the package out of the bed, removed the parts, and installed them on the Camaro they only came on. A lot of UPS truck have Camaro SS packages from time to time,I've heard.
Big block C/20s could have either leaf or coil springs, but automatics all had Dana 60s with 3.54:1 ratio. 14-bolts weren't used until '73.

Re: thinking about looking at this truck.
At this point I'm not sure that the Camaro ever had the Camaro SS package, I think it was just for trucks.
I have even seen US Postal & Fed Ex trucks with the packages also |

Re: thinking about looking at this truck.
Wondering what someone might offer? Blue books for 8k? SS Package? Come on! I know the law likes to look the other way, when the locals are smoking locally grown stuff, especially for medical reasons. Hope he's not too depressed when one of the members brings him back to reality.

Re: thinking about looking at this truck.
Hard to tell the condition from the pictures but if it's parked in the grass rust and critters could be an issue. Not sure it is worth anywhere near 8K, or what condition and such he put in the book. Hard not to laugh but it is likely someone once told him about the Camaro SS package and he beleives he has some real solid knowledge. May even be he bought the truck based on this rare package. A little knowledge is dangerous but even more so when it is passed around and amplified.

Re: thinking about looking at this truck.
It always cracks me up when they say "it runs good",but cant take the time to close the hood all the way before taking the pic.I don't think its worth 8K but still worth going to look at.You never know you might get a good deal.

Re: thinking about looking at this truck.
I see the mirrors aren't original and I don't see holes from the originals. So,it was likely painted which is why it no longer has the SS stripe over the hood and down the fender. I thought '68 Camaro SSs had the hood louver things and either a 350 or a 396
